Built in 1857 by William Bybee, the estate is located just one mile north of historic Jacksonville, Oregon. It’s close enough for convenience yet private enough to feel like your own corner of the valley. Guests can choose from seven historic bedrooms, or reserve it all for total privacy. Complete with ensuite bathrooms and full kitchens, the Inn and Carriage House have everything you need for an enjoyable stay.

Outdoors, an open-air gathering area with a covered porch, gazebo, and water feature invites long evenings outside with a comfortable fire pit, mountain views in the distance, and plenty of space to simply sit and relax under the stars.

Bybee Estate sits where two of Southern Oregon's wine regions meet. Jacksonville marks the start of the Rogue Valley wine trail and the gateway to the Applegate Valley, a smaller wine region tucked inside it. A long, warm growing season and a Mediterranean-style climate let winemakers here grow far more than Pinot Noir, so a single afternoon can take you from crisp whites to bold Tempranillo, Syrah and Zinfandel.

What makes it special is the scale. These are small, family-run wineries, most with the winemaker or owner pouring in the tasting room. You guests can walk between tasting rooms in town, or let the Jacksonville Wine Trolley do the driving. The perfect activity for your bachelorette or wedding weekends.

Start at the estate. Mornings on the covered porch, an afternoon soak in the original clawfoot tub, evenings by the fire pit with nothing on the agenda. Three and a half acres of gardens and mature trees give everyone a quiet corner of their own.

Walk the Jacksonville Woodlands. About 18 miles of interconnected forest trails start right in town, easily reached from Britt Gardens. It's an ideal morning walk or a gentle reset after a busy day of activities. Guests can explore various trails in the Applegate, Forest Park, and Beekman Woods & Native Plant Arboretum.

Soak in mineral springs. About 40 minutes away near Ashland, Jackson WellSprings offers a large naturally warm mineral pool, private soaking tubs, a sauna and a steam room on a 30-acre garden property, with day passes available.

Downtown Historic Jacksonville

One mile from Bybee Estate, Jacksonville feels like a town the modern world forgot to rush. Gold miners built it in the 1850s, and in 1966 it became Oregon's first National Historic Landmark District. Its brick storefronts, wooden boardwalks and Victorian homes still stand much like they did when William Bybee built his home just up the road.

Today the whole downtown is walkable in an afternoon, with no plan required. Guests can drift along California Street from shop to shop, step into a tasting room, then find a shaded bench in Britt Gardens. Our charming town features a variety of artisan shops and boutiques offering antique finds, specialty foods, pottery, locally made crafts, and vintage charm on every corner.
